The San Diego Padres selected Tony Gwynn in the third round of the 1981 Major League Baseball Draft with the 58th overall pick. He was brought up to the Padres the following year and made his MLB debut on July 19 1982. Gwynn’s stellar baseball career spanned 20 seasons with the San Diego Padres including 15 All-Star Game appearances 8 National League batting titles 2 World Series appearances (1984 and 1998) and a Hall of Fame induction in 2007. Beyond his nearly incomparable resume the indelible impression he left in the hearts and minds of San Diego sports fans is everlasting.
This beautiful Tony Gywnn Louisville Slugger Professional Signature Model B267 gold-washed bat was given to the Hall of Famer in recognition for his 20 years of service with the Padres Around the tip of the barrel are Gwynn’s 20 years of service with the club listed with his batting average for each season to the right. His career batting average .338 is also listed. Originating from Gwynn’s personal collection of career mementos the bat remains in beautiful condition and displays magnificently.
