Brent Strom had his promising career cut short by an arm injury after just five MLB seasons (1972-77) with the Mets Indians and Padres. He was just the second person to have 'Tommy John Surgery' performed on him and this operation prolonged his playing career for a few more seasons of minor league ball in the Dodgers organization during which time he received these two Championship pendants that he gifted his ex-wife Susan. The 1981 World Series pendant is constructed of 14K gold with “LOS ANGELES DODGERS WORLD CHAMPIONS in raided letters surrounding a black stone with a diamond set in its center. The back is engraved with “1981 Susan Strom” and stamped “BALFOUR 14K.” The pendant shows medium use with some surface wear on both the front and back.
The Albuquerque Dukes pendant is made of 10K gold and has “ALBUQUERQUE PCL CHAMPIONS” in raised letters with two stones that surround a southwest design motif set with a stone. The reverse is stamped “J 10K.” The pendant shows medium wear with some surface abrasions visible. In an ironic twist Brent Storm recently got himself another World Series ring this time as the Houston Astros head pitching coach when they beat his former team in the 2017 Fall Classic.
