Jim “Mudcat” Grant pitched for six major league teams during his long career but earned the eternal admiration of loyal Twins fans in 1965 when he beat the Dodgers' Don Drysdale in the World Series opener and won again in Game 6 not only with his pitching but his three-run homer. This lot features Grant’s 1965 Minnesota Twins American League Championship ring. The 14K gold beauty boasts one large diamond on top above a blue stone surrounded by the words “AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPIONS” in raised lettering. One shank shows the Minnesota Twins logo with a baseball crossed by the two intersecting bats and the year (“1965”) while the other shank reads “GRANT” above the “Twin Cities” emblem with two ball players shaking hands above a baseball crossed by the two intersecting bats and Grant’s uniform number (“33”). The ring size is 11½ weight is 30 grams and the inside band reads “Jostens 14K.” A classic treasure commemorating one of the greatest season’s in the history of Twin Cities baseball. Comes in its original small blue Jostens presentation box.
