Basketball Hall of Famer Larry Bird was a 12-time NBA All-Star who was named league MVP for three straight seasons (1984 to ’86). He was also named MVP of the 1982 NBA All-Star Game and led the Boston Celtics to three NBA titles in 1981 ’84 and ’86. This lot features Bird’s 1991 NBA Eastern Conference All-Star game-issued jersey and warm-up jacket. The game which was played at the Charlotte Arena in Charlotte North Carolina saw the East squad eke out a 116-114 victory over the West. Bird who was selected to the team as a reserve player did not play in the actual game due to his ailing back.

The 100% polyester white mesh jersey which reads “NBA ALL-STAR” across the front in blue gray white and red heat-pressed lettering includes proper Champion manufacturer’s tagging [size 46] on the front left tail and is adjacent to a second label that reads “Designed and Tailored 1991 Exclusively for Larry Bird” with the player name spelled out in red script chain-stitching. Single stars outlined in blue with red crowns in the center appear on either side of the “NBA” lettering. The collar and both sleeves are outlined in red white and blue elastic and Bird’s trademark uniform number “33” appears in red on white tackle twill on the jersey front splitting the words “NBA” and “All-Star.” On the rear is his last name “BIRD” arched in red tackle twill on the shoulder blades sewn directly into the jersey with his uniform number “33” following below in similar fashion. The NBA’s official embroidered red white and blue logo is sewn onto the left shoulder. A separate washing instructions tag appears on the inside left seam along with another tag reading “2” EXTRA LENGTH.”

Also featured in this lot is Bird’s 1991 NBA Eastern Conference All-Star game-issued warm-up jacket. The white 100% polyester button-down jacket includes the 1991 NBA All-Star Weekend logo (Feb. 8-10) featured on the left chest in red white and blue design. The Champion manufactured jacket [size 46] is trimmed in red white and blue elastic around the collar waist and wrists. The back of the jacket is sporting the elaborate red white blue and gray 1991 NBA All-Star Game logo across its entire surface. The inside right seam holds three separate tags reading “100% POLYESTER” “4” EXTRA BODY LENGTH” and “4” EXTRA SLEEVE LENGTH” respectively. A total of seven silver snap buttons complete the front of the jacket.

Includes LOA from Austria National Team member Fery Kienesberger.
