In 1977 the National League Champion L.A. Dodgers battled all the way to Game 6 of the World Series before eventually bowing to Reggie Jackson and the mighty New York Yankees in the series-deciding contest. It was a series to remember as Jackson hit three home runs on three pitches in three consecutive at bats.
This lot features a 1977 L.A. Dodgers National League Champions 14K Gold ring that was presented to former Dodgers pitcher and three-time All-Star Ralph Branca. It features a blue stone in the center surrounded by four small diamonds that represent each base on the infield of a baseball diamond. Around its beveled edge is raised lettering that reads “DODGERS NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONS.” One shank reads “LA 1977” and features a large jet in flight while the other shank includes a pennant engraved with “BRANCA” and the Dodgers logo. The ring is marked “LGB 14K” on the interior band and shows light wear. The size 12 ring weighs 30 grams. Its original black-and-gold Balfour box is included.
