The NFL has celebrated its championship game every season as the Super Bowl. It’s the game that determines bragging rights for the entire year. The AFC and NFC Champions battle one another in the ultimate gridiron contest every year to determine the league’s best. Super Bowl I kicked off on January 15 1967 with the AFL Champion Kansas City Chiefs squaring off against NFL Champion Green Bay Packers. Led by Hall of Fame quarterback Bart Starr the Packers beat the Chiefs 35-10. The game took place at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on a sunny 72-degree day.

This lot features three items connected to football’s inaugural Super Bowl. The first piece is a descriptive media kit entitled “A.F.L. N.F.L. WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP INFORMATION & FACTS.” The 13-page booklet didn’t contain any info about the competing teams but did provide plenty of information about the pre-game pageantry and halftime show. The second part to this puzzle is a copied and stapled nine-page document providing pertinent game information including scoring by quarter individual player statistics and even a weather report. The final piece is a rare color-coded lineup card providing the entire rosters of both the Chiefs and Packers. Each of these items is extremely difficult to find in the hobby especially the roster sheet and media kit booklet. Another great group for the passionate Super Bowl I collector.
