This lot features a beautifully designed Los Angeles Dodgers 14K gold lady's ring issued in the 1960's to the wife of pitcher Ralph Branca. The three-time All-Star is perhaps best known for giving up the "Shot Heard 'Round the World" to Bobby Thomson in 1951. During their first full decade in Los Angeles the Dodgers certainly made an impression by winning both the 1963 and ’65 World Series. The size 5.5 ring offered here showcases a blue stone in the center on top of which sits a real diamond. Its outer beveled edge reads “LOS ANGELES BASEBALL CLUB” in raised lettering. Both shanks simply feature the Dodgers logo in script while the interior band is marked “BALFOUR 14K.” Branca's wife's name “Ann” is engraved on the interior band as well.
