Lou Maguolo was a baseball scout for the St. Louis Browns and New York Yankees in the 1940’s-50’s. Based in St. Louis Missouri Maguolo scouted primarily in the Midwest. He was best known for signing Yankee greats Bill Skowron Tony Kubek and Fritz Peterson. Maguolo also scouted such players as Bob Keegan Al LaMacchia Don Lenhardt Herb Plews Lou Skizas Bob Wiesler Al Pilarcik Whitey Herzog Cal Neeman Norm Siebern Lee Thomas and Dennis Werth.
For his contributions in helping build and sustain baseball’s greatest dynasty Maguolo received this 1956 New York Yankees World Series ring. The ring features a red stone set at the center that has replaced its original diamond surrounded by "New York Yankees World Champions" on top. Both sides bear "1956" above the Yankee top hat logo amidst laurel leaves. The band interior is engraved “Louis Maguolo” in script and stamped “Balfour 14k.” The ring size of 8-1/4 is appropriate for Maguolo’s 5 foot-5 inch 120 pound stature. This rare Yankees prize is in excellent overall condition with moderate wear.
