Hall of Fame third baseman Wade Boggs played for 11 seasons with the Boston Red Sox including his rookie year of 1982. A 12-time All Star and winner of five batting titles Boggs wore this gray button-front road jersey during 1982. Cal Ripken Jr. would take American League Rookie of the Year honors in 1982 but Boggs was close behind and would eventually join the Iron Man in both the 3000 Hit Club and the Baseball Hall of Fame. Offered here is a nice rookie-era gamer from this popular Red Sox player and one of the great stars of the final two decades of the 20th century.
With labeling from the 1983-1986 period this 34.25 inch 31.1 ounce Louisville Slugger model C235 Wade Boggs professional model bat is uncracked and shows evidence of outstanding use. Many ball marks and ball stitch impressions are visible on the front right and left barrel. Ball marks include blue ink transfers. Also visible on the bat are cleat marks and green and blue bat rack streaks. Pine tar is visible around the center brand from a weighted batting donut and there is a light coat on the lower handle. Boggs' number (26) is on the knob in black marker.
