Boston Red Sox Hall of Famer Jim Rice played his entire 16-year career in Beantown. The starting left fielder who took over patrolling the turf in front of the Green Monster from Carl Yastrzemski Rice belted 382 home runs and drove in 1482 runs during his tenure while maintaining a steady .298 batting average. This lot features Rices game-worn autographed and inscribed 1982 Boston Red Sox home jersey. The size 44 Wilson jersey (No. 14) shows moderate use and includes proper tagging on the left front tail with both the Wilsons manufacturers tag (complete with washing instructions) positioned just above a sewn-on patch reading 82 to indicate the season. The white jersey has "RED SOX" sewn across the chest in red tackle twill outlined in navy blue. Rices trademark #14 is sewn on the back also in red tackle twill outlined in navy blue. Noticeable fraying of the letters and numbers on the jersey can be seen. Red Sox red piping can be found running up both sides of the jersey front wrapping around the collar. All seven original buttons remain intact. Rice has actually signed the jersey with a thin black marker in two places: on the back just above his number as well as on the front left chest. He added an inscription that lists his career accomplishments: B.A. 298 H.R. 382 RBI 1451 H 2452. A great piece of baseball memorabilia from one of Fenway Parks fabled heroes.
