In 2006 long before his notorious plastering in tabloids worldwide PGA standout Tiger Woods attended the annual Ryder Cup festivities and competition accompanied by his ex-wife Elin Nordegren. The tournament was held from Sept. 22 to 24 in Ireland at the Palmer Course of the K Club in Straffan County Kildare just west of Dublin. It was the first time the event was ever played in Ireland. When the divots had settled Europe defeated the United States 18½ to 9½ points equaling their record winning margin of two years earlier for their third consecutive win. Woods led the U.S. team with 3 points going 3-2 overall.
This lot features the actual dinner jacket Woods wore to the official welcoming reception that year. The navy blue Polo by Ralph Loren sport coat (made in Italy) shows minimal wear and has been autographed by Woods in gold just below the left breast pocket which boasts the official embroidered Ryder Cup The K Club logo sewn onto it. Sporting its original three gold blazer buttons on the front the blazers sleeves include four non-kissing gold emblazoned buttons near either wrist. His signature has been authenticated as a 1/1 on the jacket by Upper Deck Authenticated a memorabilia company for which Woods still serves as an exclusive spokesman.
