The Great Bambino was beginning his second season as a New York Yankee when this classic action photo was snapped at their spring training camp in Shreveport, Louisiana, in 1921. The Babe is donning his Yankees road uniform, leaping high for a catch. While Ruth was known largely for slugging and early years as an ace starting pitcher, his contemporaries often raved about the big man's defense when he moved to the outfield.

Images of Ruth fielding are quite scarce compared to those of him batting, and this is undoubtedly one of the finest and earliest of Babe showing off the leather. He subject stands out with pinpoint accuracy perfectly centered within narrow white borders. The reverse has the International credit stamp, the original caption slug, and handwritten notations. Measuring 6.5" by 8.5", the original photo has some wrinkling along the top and bottom edges with a few spider creases, but remains EX-NM overall.
