Featured here is an actual stadium seat removed from Soldier Field during its renovation 2001-2003. The plastic seatback is numbered "16" next to a nameplate that gives the history of Soldier Field and the teams that played there. Besides the Chicago Bears (1971-2001) the NFL's Chicago Cardinals (now Arizona Cardinals franchise) played most of their home games at Soldier Field in 1959. It was also home to the Chicago Fire (MLS) 1998-2001. The field serves as a memorial to American soldiers who have died in wars. It was designed in 1919 and opened on October 9 1924 as Municipal Grant Park Stadium. Its formal dedication as Soldier Field was on Saturday November 27 1926 when it hosted the then-29th annual ArmyNavy Game. Seatback is attached to a wooden base and metal frame. Appears to be in EX overall condition completely original with no restoration.
Includes a Letter of Provenance from The Newport Sports Museum.
