In conjunction with the league's 50th Anniversary in 1996 the NBA namedits "50 Greatest Players." Remarkably 49 of the 50 players selected werealive and present--all but Pete Maravich--whenthey were honored as part of the 1997 All-Star festivities in Cleveland. Amagnificent creation was unveiled during halftime of the Feb. 9 1997 All-Star Game in the form these limited edition lithograph (25” by 39”) prints. These incredible pieces printed on the highest quality acid-free paperand bearing the likeness of each of the 50 Greatest Players as selectedby the NBA were created as a special keepsake and tribute to the sport's greatest stars of all time.
Each player received his very own litho signed by 49 of the players represented versions. An additional multi-signed 200 editions were distributed to league officials and important dignitaries. This offered unsigned version comes from the personal collection of fellow 50 Greatest Player and Boston Celtics great Sam Jones (pictured on the lower left next to Michael Jordan. It is framed to overall dimensions of 27" by 41". The off-white paper has a two dimensional "Field of Dreams" (distributor of many editions signed and unsigned) stamped in the same off-white color near the lower left corner. The NBA 50 Greatest logo is stamped on the bottom right corner along with the black ballpoint signature of artist/designer Mark Morse.
