When Sam Jones made his farewell tour of the NBA circuit in 1968 several of the opposing teams paid tribute to the Celtics shooting ace. No team had more respect for Jones’ skill than the Los Angeles Lakers a team who was a frequent victim of the retiring star. To commemorate the end of their distinguished foes’ career the Lakers presented Jones with this impressive ice bucket trophy. The silver plated bucket measures 8" x 8" x 10½" and has a relief sculpture of the facade of the new LA Forum above “JACK KENT COOKE 1968.” The bottom has a stamped “CS” hallmark. The bucket shows good use with several surface imperfections and abrasions. The silver plated surface has tarnished with age and the body shows some denting.
