By 1959 Sam Jones was recognized as one of the NBA’s best young players. The previous season Jones helped lead the Celtics to the first of what would be eight consecutive NBA Championships. In accordance to his rising stature on the court, Jones’ 1959 contact called for a $9,000 salary. The contract is dated June 5, 1959 and has been signed by signed by Jones and club president Walter A, Brown in blue pen and NBA President and Hall of Famer Maurice Podoloff in black pen. The contract has three horizontal folds from mailing and the signatures are perfectly preserved. A great signed document that collects the signatures of no less that two NBA Hall of Famers (Jones and Podoloff) and an NHL Hall of Famer (Brown).
