Rod Woodson's NFL career at defensive back can be summed up in one simple word: Wow. In 17 hard-hitting seasons with four different teams (Pittsburgh San Francisco Baltimore and Oakland) he was named to the Pro Bowl 11 times made 71 career interceptions (third best in league history) and still holds the league record for most interceptions brought back for touchdowns (12). He was inducted into Canton in his first year of eligibility (2009).This lot features an incredibly significant Rod Woodson signed and game-worn 2001 Baltimore Ravens home jersey that's been photo-matched to two different NFL games the first in which he broke a then-NFL record with his 10th INT return for a touchdown. It occurred on Dec. 2 2001 versus the Indianapolis Colts at home. With 1:34 remaining in a tight 32-27 battle with Indy Woodson picked off Colts' QB Peyton Manning and ran 47 yards for took it to the house to cement a 39-27 victory for the Ravens. The jersey has also been photo-matched to a Dec. 16 2001 home game against his former team the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Ravens purple home gamer has the appropriate inside rear collar strip tag reading "01-46" to indicate season worn and jersey size. The official embroidered Ravens white patch appears at the breastplate just below the iconic NFL shield logo. Woodson's iconic No. 26 is featured front and back and on the shoulders in White Gold and Black tackle twill. Woodson's name appears in white tackle twill sewn to a purple nameplate at the back. The Hall of Famer has added a striking black Sharpie autograph to his "6" on the back adding the inscription "HOF 09." On the number "2" he has added a significant black sharpie inscription reading: "2001 Season." The Ravens bird patch appears on either sleeve in four-color embroidery directly below the white Reebok logo. Shirt incredible game wear that has allowed us to photo-match it to the aforementioned games. A light-colored paint transfer or contact mark can be seen in Getty 507524 to match the record-breaking 12/2/01 game. A one-inch team repair on the front between the '2' and '6' a scratch mark on the upper '2' and soiling to the '6' can all be spotted in Getty 51708511 matching the 12/16/01 game. What's more it comes un-washed and still smells of game use. Accompanied by the fact that this gamer comes from Rod's personal collection it doesn't get much better than this for collectors.
