Offered here is an important Super Bowl XXXV (Baltimore Ravens 34 - New York Giants 7 Jan. 28 2001) game-worn jersey from legendary Hall of Fame defensive back Rod Woodson an 11-time Pro Bowler during his 17 NFL seasons. He holds the NFL record for interception returns for touchdowns (12) and was named the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 1993. His 71 career interceptions still rank as the third-most picks in NFL history. In 2009 he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on his very first ballot.
The 2000 season Rod's third in Baltimore was another banner year for Woodson as he anchored the Ravens defense alongside middle linebacker Ray Lewis. At the age of 35 he pulled down four interceptions recovered three fumbles and made 70 tackles from the free safety position during the regular season. In the actual Super Bowl Woodson started at free safety and made sure New York QB Kerry Collins and the Giants offense was stymied all game long.
Likely worn by Woodson during 2000 regular season and playoffs on the road this Ravens white road gamer has the appropriate inside rear collar strip tag reading "00-46" to indicate season and jersey size. The official embroidered Ravens patch appears at the breastplate just below the iconic NFL shield logo and Woodson's iconic No. 26 is featured front and back and on the shoulders in Purple Gold and Black tackle twill. Woodson's name appears in purple tackle twill sewn to a white nameplate at the back. The Hall of Famer has added a striking silver Sharpie autograph to his "6" on the back adding his No. 26 inscription. On the number "2" he has added a significant silver sharpie inscription reading: "2000 SB XXXV CHAMPS GAME WORN." The Ravens bird patch appears on either sleeve in four-color embroidery directly beneath the black Nike Swoosh logo. The colorful Super Bowl XXXV embroidered patch is affixed to the left chest and the Nike embroidered black logo patch appears below the numerals on both sleeves.
The shirt shows outstanding game use. It smells and feels as if it's been laundered yet noticeable contact marks remain including: a blue (NY Giants colors) paint transfer on the back right shoulder; a black mark on the back left shoulder just off the top of the '6' that appears to be photo-matched (Getty 52863736); and remnants of the a washed-out grass stain on the left shoulder with that same black spot matching Getty 658094.
