Offered here is an important Super Bowl XXXV (Baltimore Ravens 34 – NewYork Giants 7 Jan. 28 2001) game-worn Baltimore Ravens helmet from legendary Hall ofFame defensive back Rod Woodson an 11-time Pro Bowler during his 17 NFLseasons. He holds the NFL record for interception returns fortouchdowns (12) and was named the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in1993. His 71 career interceptions still rank as the third-most picks inNFL history. In 2009 he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fameon his very first ballot.
The 2000 season was another banner year for Woodson as he anchored theBaltimore Ravens defense alongside middle linebacker Ray Lewis in histhird straight campaign with the team. At the age of 35 he pulled downfour interceptions recovered three fumbles and made 70 tackles from thefree safety position during the regular season. In the actual SuperBowl Woodson started at free safety and made sure New York QB KerryCollins and the Giants offense was stymied all game long.
The banged-up Riddell helmet includes a "2000 Re-certified" sticker indicating it was likely worn during 2000 regular season and playoffs as well. Sporting multiple paint transfers from on-the-field collisions the helmet shows incredible wear. On the top right side of the helmet Woodson has signed his name in silver and added the inscription "HOF09." On the left side of the helmet he added another inscription reading: "Game Worn SB XXXV CHAMPS." The official Baltimore Ravens NFL helmet includes Woodson's trademark uniform number "26" on the rear positioned just above the team name "RAVENS."
