Hall of Fame defensive back Rod Woodson was an 11-time Pro Bowl selection and was named First Team All-Pro six different times in his 17-year NFL career. In 1990 just his fourth year in the league Woodson was playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers and named to the 7th Annual Madden Team. A prestigious award that started in 1984 it recognizes a group of players whom former NFL head coach and longtime NFL broadcaster John Madden thought represented football and played the game the way he thought it should be played. A 12 high by 8 wide bronze sculpture that sits atop a two-inch wooden base the award shows an exhausted player on the sidelines catching a breather while the back of the award line-lists all of the deserving players from 1990 by position who made the Madden cut. At defensive back that year Wooden was joined by fellow NFL standouts Darrell Green Ronnie Lott and Mark Carrier. An impressive piece of hardware the trophy weighs nearly 20 pounds.
