Hall of Famer Rod Woodson was one of the hardest-hitting defensive backs in the NFL and also an accomplished kickoff return man. This lot includes Woodsons 1990 Mackey Award AFC Kickoff Return Leader trophy presented by the National Football League Players Association. That season Woodson recorded 35 kickoff returns for 764 yards. The striking award features a brushed silver statuette of a 9 1/2-inch tall generic player in a futuristic styling resting upon a silver base 4 1/2 inches in diameter. That in turn rests upon a circular wood base 4 inches high and 7 inches in diameter. A 7 1/2-by-4-inch silver plaque across the front notes "ROD WOODSON PITTSBURGH STEELERS AFC Kickoff Return Leader 1990 MACKEY AWARD National Football League Players Association" with the Players Association logo on one side and "BBF" on the other.
