NFL great Rod Woodson was fast enough that he was also an accomplished track and field athlete at Purdue and was twice awarded All-America honors. He finished second at the 1985 NCAA Championships in the 55 meter hurdles and finished third at the 1987 NCAA Championships in the 55 meter hurdles. Woodson held the NCAA 60 meter hurdles record for 10 years. As of January 2009 he still held the school records in both the 60 and 110 meter hurdles. He earned five Big Ten championships while at Purdue and in 1984 qualified for the Olympic Trials in the 110 meter hurdles but elected to continue his football career in the NFL after graduating from Purdue. This light mesh singlet was worn by Woodson at the 1987 USA Track & Field Meet in the 110 meters. The bright red mesh shirt has silver trip highlights on the shoulders and collar and a side panel left and right with silhouettes of two seated figures back to back. "USA" is screen printed across the front in white and blue and the silhouette figure is screened directly above the "A" also in red and white. The jersey shows game use and is essentially as-issued and problem free other than two tags that have apparently been removed from the back of the collar.
