In 1986 future NFL Hall of Fame defensive back Rod Woodson was playing multiple positions for the Purdue University Boilermakers. It was his senior season and the six-foot 200-pound triple threat was busy returning 30 kickoffs for 735 yards 19 punts for 167 yards while still playing solid defensive back and even rushing 15 times on offense for 93 yards. Though the Boilermakers only finished with a 3-8 mark Woodson was to be a sought-after NFL Draft selection come April. This lot includes a modest 12 tall trophy that was awarded to Woodson by the Chicago Tribune that includes an engraved marbleized plaque on the front that reads: BIG TEN CONFERENCE Most Valuable Football Player to His Team for 1986. Sporting a wood base the trophy includes a proportionately sized silver football sitting on the top.
Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from Rod Woodson.
