NFL Hall of Famer Rod Woodson earned his trip to professional football stardom after compiling a terrific collegiate career at Purdue University. A two-time (1985 and 86) All-America defensive back Woodson was also a three time All-Big Ten first team selection. Woodson left Purdue with 13 individual records tying the school record with eleven career interceptions. Woodson was inducted into the Purdue Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame in 2003. This lot features his 1984 Peach Bowl ring a game in which the Boilermakers dropped a tight 27-24 decision to Virginia.
The ring shows three CZ diamonds on the face atop a black surface surrounded by "PEACH BOWL PURDUE BOILERS" in raised lettering. The year 1984 and the Boilermakers logo standing atop three rival football teams' helmets (OSU UM and ND) is on one shank; the other shank includes his last name and uniform number WOODSON 26 positioned on top of a football helmet. Inside of the band is stamped HJ ULT which is a registered trademark used for Jewelry and owned by Herff Jones Company of Indiana Inc. the Carnation Company. Woodsons full name Rod Woodson is engraved on the inside of the band in script. Ring size is 12.
