Born Rocco Francis Marchegiano in Brockton Mass. Rocky Marciano held the World Heavyweight belt from September 23 1952 to April 27 1956. He defended his title six times. He remains the only boxing champion to hold the title and go untied and undefeated throughout his career finishing with a perfect 49-0 record. This amazing collection of 30 black & white original photographs mostly 8" x 10" or slightly smaller captioned wirephotos provides a wonderful timeline of Marciano fights from the early to mid 1950s.

Highlights include: bedside with wife nursing wounds from victory over Joe Louis (10/27/51); kissed by manager after beating Lee Savold (2/14/52); 2 fight shots from 1st Joe Walcott bout (9/23/52); playfully fake punching manager after 2nd Walcott bout (5/15/53); uppercut connection to face of Roland LaStarza (9/25/53); 3 shots training at Grossinger NY gym for 1st Ezzard Charles bout (June '54); 5 fight shots of 1st Charles bout (6/17/54); 6 fight shots of 2nd Charles bout (9/17/54); 4 shots including weigh-in and eventual 9th round knockdown of Archie Moore (9/21/55); and a personal family shot with his wife mother and father.

Marciano was a true champion in every sense of the word. It's no wonder "The Rock from Brockton" was the inspiration for Sylvester Stallone's wildly successful Rocky movie series. The consignor is a dedicated boxing collector and you won't find a better source of original vintage Rocky Marciano wirephotos in the hobby. All photos vary from Excellent-Mint condition. They come in individual plastic cover sheets and have been placed in chronological order in a black spiral binder.
