Nice pair of MLB All-Star team balls from the early 1980's when the Midsummer Classic was played with a lot more passion and intensity. First we have 21 signatures from the 1982 National League All-Star squad who defeated the AL by a score of 4-1 behind MVP Dave Concepcion’s 2-run homer in the second inning. The game was played in Montreal and this Official 1982 All-Star Game ball (Kuhn) has heavy toning across one panel; the autographs all fall in the 7-8/10 range in blue ballpoint (except for Dale Murphy in faded black). Included are Hall of Famers Ozzie Smith Schmidt Carlton Niekro Raines Snider (honorary captain) and Lasorda (manager SS) as well as Pete Rose Valenzuela Sax Oliver Knight Durham Dusty Baker Trillo Rogers (SP) Minton etc.
Next we have 29 signatures from the 1983 American League All-Stars who crushed the NL 13-4 thanks to the only grand slam ever hit in All-Star Game history. Fred Lynn won MVP honors for this milestone. The Official 1983 All-Star Game ball (Kuhn) celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Midsummer Classic is lightly scuffed and evenly toned with black ballpoint autographs in the 5-7 range. Highlights include Hall of Famers Cal Ripken Jr. Brett Winfield Murray Yount and Rice along with Kuenn (manager SS) Lynn Whitaker Stieb Sutcliffe Boone Wilson Cooper Honeycutt Kittle Stanley Trillo Parrish Ward Lopez Martinez Young etc.
