Former Cincinnati Reds star Pete Rose may still be banned from the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown New York but his name remains atop baseball’s all-time hit list. The burly infielder who played with reckless abandonment for his entire 24-year career joined the prestigious 3000 Hit Club on May 5 1978 when he singled of Montreal Expos pitcher Steve Rogers becoming the 13th and youngest player at that time to accomplish this feat. Ultimately Rose would surpass the great Ty Cobb on baseball’s all-time hit list by collecting his 4190th hit – yet another single – on September 11 1985 at Riverfront Stadium in Cincinnati.
The signatures of an elite brotherhood of batsmen are gathered here on this circa 1980 Pete Rose game used bat. The presented Hillerich & Bradsby signature model S2 exhibits solid use with ball marks pine tar and a number "14" in marker on the knob. This ideal medium hosts a compilation of eighteen 9/10 blue sharpie signatures from esteemed members of MLB’s 3000 Hit Club: Rose Winfield Ripken Boggs Carew Aaron Mays Musial Molitor Kaline Murray Gwynn Yount Brett Yastrzemski Brock Henderson and Palmeiro. Plenty of room left on the barrel lends the invitation to pursue Jeter and whoever else may join the Club in the years to come!
