In 1959 at the age of 17 Argentina-born boxer Carlos Monzn competed in his first amateur fight which ended in a draw. Over the next three years he posted an overall record of 73-6-8 before finally deciding to turn pro. On Feb. 6 1963 he fought his first professional fight and beat Ramon Montenegro by way of a second-round knockout. Monzn went on to compile a professional record of 87-3-9 and held the world middleweight title for more than seven years (1970 to '77) successfully defending his title 14 times during that span. This lot includes a pair of Monzns training-worn Corti headgears one black and one red. Both of the Articulo Sport Corti style headgears which Monzn wore between 1970 and '72 show substantial wear with original laces and chin straps still intact.
