On October 10 1956 in Game 7 of the World Series between the visiting New York Yankees and the host Brooklyn Dodgers Yankees first baseman Bill Moose Skowron stepped up to the plate in the top half of the seventh inning with the bases loaded. With the Yankees already out in front 5-0 Skowron put the nail in the Dodgers coffin with a grand slam off Dodgers pitcher Roger Craig. On base for the memorable blast was Billy Martin at third Mickey Mantle at second and Yogi Berra at first. This lot includes the ONL Warren Giles Spalding game ball from that very moment which has turned yellow over time but still includes a special severely faded inscription starting at the sweet spot of the ball that reads: Ball hit for home run with Bases Full 1956 World Series Ebbetts Field Brooklyn Off Roger Craig. A separate item included in this lot is an 8 x 10 black-and-white photo that Skowron has signed in black marker that captures the moment the ball reached the leftfield seats at Ebbetts Field. It even identifies most of the players on the field including Brooklyns Roy Campanella behind the plate and Duke Snider in center field.

Includes Letter of Authenticity from the Skowron Family
