On October 8 1956 World Series history was made and the two pivotal players involved were New York Yankees teammates Don Larsen and Yogi Berra. It was Game 5 of the 56 World Series and the Yankees were hosting the Brooklyn Dodgers at Yankee Stadium. The game ended 2-0 in favor of the host team but the box score reflected something magical: no hits no runs no walks and no hits batsmen for the Dodgers. Larsen who struck out seven Dodgers had thrown a perfect game with Berra catching behind the plate the first and only perfect game ever pitched in World Series history! A total of 27 Dodgers came to the plate that day and none of them made it to first base. The Yankees went on to win that years Fall Classic in seven games. This lot includes 12 dual-signed baseballs from that days pitching tandem of Larsen and Berra with a special inscription of the memorable date: 10-8-56. Larsen used a slightly darker blue pen than Berra and the inscription was added with Larsens pen. The signatures are solid and rate 8-9/10. A great collection of sports memorabilia for any ardent Yankees fan.
Includes Letter of Authenticity from the Skowron Family. Also includes 12 Certificates of Authenticity signed by Bill "Moose" Skowron (who appeared at dozens of autograph shows in the 1980's with other Yankee greats) for the Larsen signatures.
