Jackie Robinson capped off his 10-year major league career with his appearance in Game 7 of the 1956 World Series. The deciding game was bittersweet for Robinson and Dodgers fans, as the Yankees won by a score of 9-0. Jackie went 0 for 3 with a walk in the game. At the conclusion of the series, Jackie Robinson was still unsure whether he would play in 1957, but the surprising news of his trade to the rival New York Giants made up his mind to retire. This used ticket to the deciding Game 7 in Ebbets Field is in good condition, with bold color and a clean front surface. The reverse of the ticket has a stain from adhesive tape, where it was likely affixed in a scrapbook. Since Robinson had not made the decision to retire when this game was played, no one knew the significance of keeping the ticket as a memento of baseball’s first Black ballplayer’s final appearance. The ticket has been encapsulated by PSA and graded GD 2.
