This ticket admitted the bearer to the pennant-clinching game that sent the Brooklyn Dodgers to the World Series. Played on September 30, 1956, the Dodgers were in a tight pennant race with the Milwaukee Braves and Chicago Cubs that came down to the last game of the season. Fortunately for Brooklyn, Don Newcombe was on the mound, and he earned his 27th win of the season by beating Pittsburgh, 8-6. Jackie Robinson helped put the Dodgers over the top with a 3rd inning home run off Bob Purkey. No one knew it at the time, but this would be the final regular-season game of Robinson’s career. He would play in the seven-game loss to the Yankees in the World Series, but retired in December after learning of his trade to the hated New York Giants. This ticket stub to Jackie’s final game has survived in excellent condition, with no creases or damage besides the expected perforation along the bottom edge. This historic ticket stub has been encapsulated by PSA and graded EX-MT 6.
