One of, if not THE most desirable inscriptions found on a single-signed Mickey Mantle ball are those bearing the inscription "Oklahoma Kid." According to hobby lore, Mantle did not like to sign his name with this inscription but did so as a favor to a close friend sometime in the 1980s. Fewer than a handful of "Oklahoma Kid" Mantle’s exist, with one having sold at auction in 2017 for over $15,000. This example was signed in blue ballpoint by The Mick twice – once when he signed the sweet spot and a second time when he obligingly added "Oklahoma Kid" above his name. The Official American League ball shows some toning on the north and south panels from age, though none affect the eye appeal of Mantle’s signature or the desirable inscription. The ball comes with a LOA from JSA.
