The Yankees skated into the 1955 post season three games ahead of the defending AL champion Indians. The 1955 Yankees had a tremendous team, with Mickey Mantle winning the home run title, Yogi Berra winning his third AL MVP Award, and Whitey Ford leading the league in wins. That October, the Yanks met their old rivals, the Brooklyn Dodgers, who they had defeated in five previous World Series’ – but 1955 would be different. The series went the full seven games with the Dodgers finally winning it all. The next season the Yanks fielded essentially the same ball club and defeated the Dodgers in the 1956 World Series. This Reach Official American League ball holds 28 signatures of the 1955 AL Champions including Hall of Famers Yogi Berra, Mickey Mantle, Phil Rizzuto, and Whitey Ford plus Elston Howard, Billy Martin, Jerry Coleman, Irv Noren, Tom Sturdivant, Tommy Morgan, Bob Cerv, Jerry Staley, Andy Carey, bob Grim, Eddie Robinson, Charlie Silvera, Jim Konstanty, Bill Skowron, Johnny Kucks, Bob Turley, and Bobby Richardson. The ball shows overall toning and there appears to the remains of a light coating of shellack to preserve the signatures. The ball comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA.
