Full unused ticket from the May 20th 1913 fight between "Gunboat" Smith and future World Heavyweight Champion Jess Willard held at Coffroth's Arena in the city of San Francisco. Smith was much bigger than Willard having a 6" advantage in heigt and 50 pound advantage in weight. Despite a substantial difference in size Willard known as a man who could kill with one punch put up a game effort. Both fighters exchanged blows for the entire 20 round contest. When it was all over Smith was awarded the victory the the assembled crowds approval. This would be one of only 6 defeats Willard suffered during his Hall of Fame career. Blue red and white ticket presents VG+/VG-EX in appearance. Corners about EX to EX-MT. Top left hand corner has a small water stain. The bottom left corner has some minor damage/light staining/slight paper loss which is more visible on the back side. A facsimile autograph of promoter Jim Coffroth one of the first great promoters in boxing history appears on the back of the ticket
