Maria Sharapova born in Russia in 1987 and a resident of the U.S. since 1994 has competed on the WTA tour since 2001. She has been ranked world number one in singles by the WTA on five separate occasions. She is one of 10 women and the only Russian born to achieve the career Grand Slam. Her 35 singles titles and five Grand Slam titles rank third among active players trailing only the Williams sisters. As testament to her longevity abilities and consistency Sharapova won at least one title every year from 2003-2015 a streak only bested by Steffi Graf Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert. At 6’2” with her stunning looks and signature long blonde flowing locks Maria Sharapova has also been a successful model including a feature in a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and an advertisement icon in print and on television.
Her match-used 2015 tennis racquet offered here is from a year in which she reached her 4th Australian Open final compiling a 39-9 record en route to winning two titles to extend her streak of title-winning years to 13. Maria Sharapova personally donated this match-used and signed Head racquet to charity. This racquet was used by Maria during the clay-court season of her 2015 WTA calendar. Maria has signed the racquet on the handle as well as on the outside throat of the racquet. Accompanying documentation from the Italian/European Charity group (Charity Stars) involved with Maria includes images of her holding this very racquet! The racquet shows moderate usage throughout.
