This is a companion lot to the adjacent offering this time with three vintage football jerseys from the 1920's and 1940's. First is an extra-heavy wool shirt with back tail tagging from the Ellery Arms Co. in San Francisco Calif. The orange jersey shows enormous wear including a number of tears and holes fading to portions of the navy blue striping on the arms and significant wear and even separation of stitching on the gray felt No. 7 on the back. Orange strips at the bottom of the tail are intact but show wear and damage similar to the shirt. A second shirt is a lighter knitted fabric mustard yellow with screened brown striping at the elbows. Shirt has Rawlings Size 44 at the back of the tail with adjacent wash instructions tag. Brown fabric "48" appears sewn directly to the shirt front and back with enormous wear tearing etc. to the number on back. Chronicling the unique styles of the day and enough visible wear to guarantee its bona fides it has numerous holes tears repairs and some staining and most visibly large half-dollar-sized hole front and back that seemingly indicates a skewering of some sort though we hope not even in that rough-and-tumble era. A third knit turquoise jersey has a small "MacGregor" tag at the bottom of a flap that comes around from the back of the shirt and buttons (intact) to the front; there is an adjacent wash instructions tag nearby. The No. 71 is sewn on in white and navy blue fabric front and back and like the other pieces in the lot shows a good deal of wear some tears and repairs and fraying of the stitching on the number. Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from the Helms/LA 84 Collection.
