League Park was home to the Cleveland Indians from 1901 to 1946. The stadium was built in 1891 and hosted the Cleveland Spiders of the National League until the team went bankrupt in 1899. In 1916 new team owner "Sunny Jim" Dunn renamed the park "'Dunn Field." When Dunns widow sold the franchise in 1927 the name reverted back to League Park. The Cleveland Indians split games between League Park and Cleveland Stadium from 1936-1946. When the park opened on May 1 1891 the first pitch was delivered by Cy Young. The venue also played host to Game No. 56 in Joe DiMaggio's unparalleled hitting streak. The ballpark continued to serve as the Indians' primary home until 1947despite the fact that the 78000-seat Municipal Stadium had been built in 1931. (Erected in a failed attempt to host the 1932 Olympics the latter venue was used for Sunday and holiday home games only until 1947.).

Here offered is a single seat from the end of a seating row once employed at the storied Lake Erie ballpark. This elegant item boasts an ornate baseball-themed figural side that features bat ball and glove shapes. Very structurally sound it features a coat of vintage green paint and a stenciled seat number 101 on the top back slat.

Includes a Letter of Provenance from The Newport Sports Museum.
