Michel Platini remains the greatest French footballer of his generation and one of the most elegant playmakers in the history of the sport. His artistry as the #10 alongside Alain Giresse, Luis Fernández, and Jean Tigana formed the “Carré Magique” (Magic Square) that defined French football in the ‘80s. He won the coveted Ballon d'Or award three straight years (1983-85) and came in seventh overall in the FIFA Player of the 20th Century rankings.
Les Blues won the 1984 Euro Cup and reached the semifinals of the 1982 and 1986 World Cups thanks to “Le Roi” (The King) whose 41 goals in 72 caps from 1976-87 were the most all-time by a Frenchman until 2007. His club career spanned 1972-87 with Nancy and Saint-Étienne in French Ligue 1 before finishing strong with Juventus where he led Serie A in scoring each of his three Ballon d’Or winning campaigns.
This offered Michel Platini match-worn and autographed France home model jersey dates to the 1977-80 period of his national team tenure. The royal blue long-sleeve shirt made by Adidas is constructed of 72% polyester fabric with a ribbed collar and sleeve ends in matching white. The German apparel giant’s patented three-stripe design in white and red runs down both sleeves. The classic “F.F.F.” (Fédération Française de Football) crest with its symbolic Gallic rooster in gold is embroidered on the left chest. Proper Adidas tagging appears within the collar, the label heavily worn out and torn but with legible materials information. The back features a large white “10” in the late ’70’s period style. Platini's signature appears on the ‘0’ in black marker adding even more value to an already coveted piece of French football history. Overall, the shirt comes in ideal condition with a medium level of wear in the form of fabric pilling and scratch/snag marks.
