Throughout the 1920s, Lucky Strike created some of the most visually appealing baseball advertisements ever produced and this 1929 piece is no exception. Featuring Philadelphia A’s catcher Mickey Cochrane, this die-cut display shows the 1928 AL MVP in action awaiting a pitch. In addition to winning the ’28 AL MVP Award, Cochrane would help lead the A’s to three consecutive pennants and back-to-back World Championships in 1929-1930. This counter display contains all the elements that made the 1920s Lucky Strike advertising so enduring: bold use of color, dynamic pose and one of the game’s biggest stars. Measuring approximately 19 ¼” x 28 ½” this piece shows some edge wear and scuffing from age but remains extremely bright and eye-catching.
