Ken Norton started boxing when he was in the US Marine Corp from 1963-1967 where he won three All-Marine Heavyweight titles. He turned professional in 1967 and fought all the best boxing had to offer in his 14-year career including George Foreman Larry Holmes Jerry Quarry Duane Bobbick Jimmy Young Earnie Shavers Randall Cobb & Gerry Cooney. But it was his controversial trilogy with Muhammad Ali that the boxing world will remember him for.

The third and final bout between Muhammad Ali and Ken Norton took place on September 28 1976 at Yankee Stadium. It was a rubber match of sorts as the two champions had swapped victories in 1973. Their previous meeting saw Ali edge out a 15-round decision over the chiseled ex-marine to solidify his position as the indisputable World Heavyweight Champion. Offered is Norton’s actual fight gloves worn by him as he stepped into the ring for Ali-Norton III under the bright lights of Yankee Stadium and its hallowed facade. Rising to the occasion Norton used his superior strength to pressure Ali from start to finish.  The fight was close throughout and when the decision was awarded to Ali many observers thought Norton had been robbed. This epic battle perhaps fittingly was the last heavyweight championship fought at Yankee Stadium.

Norton’s Everlast boxing gloves are each signed the right glove by the Champ Ali and the left by Norton. Photographs of each signing his glove are included. The all-important "KN #1" is written inside each glove. Both gloves show appropriate wear with the Everlast logos show white tape residue. Gloves are photo matched to the cover of the New York Daily News.

The lot also includes other items including a signed ticket promotional ashtray signed by Ali poster program pin press kit and LOA from the original owner who obtained the gloves right after the fight. Also included is a high-resolution professional photo-matched LOA from Resolution Photomatching. Each glove is certified by PSA/DNA.
