Here is a significant piece of 1986 FIFA World Cup history: a Spain National Team jersey from the June 1 match against Brazil worn by Spanish midfielder Juan Señor. In the opening Group D match for both teams played at Estadio Jalisco in Guadalajara, Mexico, La Roja fell 1-0 to Seleção thanks to a 60th minute goal from Sócrates. Both sides would advance to the quarterfinals before being eliminated in brutal fashion: penalty kicks.

Juan Señor earned 41 caps for Spain from 1982-88. His club career spanned 12 seasons in La Liga with Alavés and Zaragoza. After his 1986 World Cup opener, Señor exchanged jerseys with Brazilian defender Oscar Bernardi. This shirt has been in Oscar's possession ever since and comes directly from his personal collection.

The red short-sleeve jersey made by Le Coq Sportif features the French maker's rooster-in-triangle logo on the right chest and yellow piping along both sleeves. It has an open V-neck collar design and the embroidered Real Federación Española de Fútbol crest — the detailed Royal Spanish FA shield with crown — on the left chest. The reverse has a large number "7" in white with a red outline, a style consistent with Spanish national team jerseys of the mid-1980s. Properly tagged within the collar, the shirt displays ample wear with visible pilling and fraying.

The Oscar Bernardi Collection

This shirt comes from the personal collection of José Oscar Bernardi, better known as Oscar, who played for the Brazil National Team from 1977 to 1986. Included is a letter of provenance signed by Oscar. Most jerseys in the collection were obtained directly through player swaps after competition. Others were acquired via gifts or trade with footballers in Oscar’s wide network of teammates and friends. At age 71, he still resides in Brazil and is ready for his collection to be appreciated by others in the hobby.
