Presented is a Hungary National Team home jersey from a March 16, 1986 friendly against Brazil worn by the gifted attacking midfielder Lajos Détári and preserved in the Oscar Bernardi Collection. Détári was one of Hungary's most talented players of the 1980's and subsequently had a distinguished club career in West Germany with Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Mönchengladbach. Hungary defeated Brazil, 3-0, in this friendly match played at Ferenc-Puskás-Stadion in Budapest, with Détári scoring the opening goal. Afterwards, he exchanged shirts with Oscar and this jersey has been in the Brazilian defender's possession ever since.
The long-sleeve collared jersey made by Adidas comes in red with bold white horizontal stripes running across the upper chest and shoulders. Green, red and white Adidas three-stripe detailing appears along the sleeves — a striking reference to Hungary's national colors. The front bears the embroidered Hungarian state coat of arms alongside the Adidas Trefoil logo. The reverse has number "10" in a triple-outline style consistent with Hungary player jerseys of the mid-80s. The shirt displays solid match wear with heavy fabric pilling, while retaining vibrant colors and structural integrity.
The Oscar Bernardi Collection
This shirt comes from the personal collection of José Oscar Bernardi, better known as Oscar, who played for the Brazil National Team from 1977 to 1986. Included is a letter of provenance signed by Oscar. Most jerseys in the collection were obtained directly through player swaps after competition. Others were acquired via gifts or trade with footballers in Oscar’s wide network of teammates and friends. At age 71, he still resides in Brazil and is ready for his collection to be appreciated by others in the hobby.
