Johnny Miller is a former professional golfer who was one of the top players in the world during the mid-1970s. He was the first to shoot 63 in a major championship to win the 1973 U.S. Open and he ranked second in the world on Mark McCormack's world golf rankings in both 1974 and 1975 behind only Jack Nicklaus. Miller won 25 PGA Tour events including two majors. He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1998. This lot features one of Millers used one (1) irons circa early '70s. The 40 Johnny Miller Wilson Staff Model 1 iron shows good use as does its faded brown leather grip which stretches 10 long. In a signed typed letter on his personalized letterhead that accompanied the donation dated March 7 1977 Miller wrote: It is my pleasure to be able to contribute my One Iron in order to assist the Boys Club of Royal Oak. It is my hope that you get as much good use out of the One Iron as I have.

Includes original letter that Miller sent to the Boys' Club of Royal Oak as well as a signed black-and-white 8" x 10" artists rendering of Miller autographed in fine-point green marker.

Includes Letter of Provenance from the Newport Sports Museum.

Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
