The great Jack Nicklaus is widely regarded as the greatest golfer to ever play the game. Now 75 years old Nicklaus won a total of 18 majors still a record which included six Masters titles five PGA Championships four U.S. Opens and three British Opens. His 18th and final major victory occurred at the 1986 Masters when the then-46-year-old Golden Bear stunned the masses by winning by one stroke over runners-up Tom Kite and Greg Norman. Nicklaus retired from the PGA Tour with 73 tournament victories which currently places him third on the all-time list behind Sam Snead (82) and Tiger Woods (79). This lot features one of Nicklauss tournament-used drivers. The 45 Custom MacGregor 1 Wood shows ample use with chipping and scrapes throughout the head. The hand-wrapped black leather handle appears in very good shape. This is the driver that Nicklaus donated to the special project on behalf of the Boys Club of Royal Oak Michigan. In a signed typed letter on Golden Bear Inc. letterhead that accompanied the donation dated Nov. 20 1975 Nicklaus wrote: I would like to thank you for your donation to The Boys Club of America. Its certainly a fine organization and deserves our support. This driver is one that I have used on several occasions and it has served me well as my number one spare. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have over the last few years. An impressive driver used by arguably golfs greatest player of all time it will make a fine addition to anyones golf collection.

Includes actual type-written letter signed by Nicklaus that accompanied the donation along with an oversized (6" x 9") color postcard showing the Golden Bear in full swing.

Includes Letter of Provenance from the Newport Sports Museum.

Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
