Photographer Eric Carpenter expertly captured the sheer beauty and allure of rising starlet Marilyn Monroe in this 1950 publicity portrait. 1950 was Marilyn’s breakout year, appearing in four major pictures: “A Ticket to Tomahawk,” “The Asphalt Jungle,” “All About Eve,” and “The Fireball.” From this point, Monroe’s natural beauty and acting versatility quickly propelled her into the top ranks of Hollywood stars. Carpenter’s stunning 1950 portrait of Monroe is undoubtedly one of the finest ever taken of her and documents the period just before her star began to ascend. The front of the photo has excellent contrast and toning. The 20th Century-Fox studio caption is printed along the bottom border. The reverse is blank except for a single handwritten catalog number. The photograph measures 8” x 10” and has been encapsulated and graded a Type 1 by PSA.
