1954 saw the release of one of Marilyn Monroe’s best-known films: Billy Wilder’s comedy, “The Seven Year Itch.” This film featured one of Hollywood’s most iconic moments when Marilyn’s character steps on a subway grate and asks, "Ooh, do you feel the breeze from the subway?" as the wind blows her white dress up, exposing her shapely legs. As part of the publicity surrounding the film, Frank Powolny, head photographer at 20th Century-Fox, took this alluring shot of Marilyn lying on a bed, gazing seductively at the camera. The front of the photo has nice toning throughout and has some edge wear on its white border. The 20th Century-Fox studio caption is printed along the bottom border, and the reverse is blank. The photograph measures 10” x 8” and has been encapsulated and graded a Type 1 by PSA.
