This awesome action shot shows Wilt Chamberlain scoring two of his 59 points in a 136-120 victory over the New York Knicks on February 8, 1962. That night in Syracuse, NY, Wilt broke his own single-season scoring record of 3,033 that he had set the previous season. With 19 games left (one being his famous 100-point game), Chamberlain pushed his season total to 4,029 points. To this day, only Michael Jordan has surpassed the 3,000 mark, while Chamberlain remains the only one to pass 4,000.
This Type 3 wire photo is the only known vintage photo in relation to this all-important NBA record. (No Type 1 or Type 2 exists.) The front of the image has large borders, and the reverse retains the original caption slug from the Associated Press that describes the historic game. The 8x10 photograph has been encapsulated Type III by PSA/DNA.
