This original Type I photograph captures the Fab 4 in 1964 as they began to change music history. After breaking through in their native England in 1962-63 with a string of hit singles The Beatles charged into 1964 ready to conquer the world. In February they made their historic trip to the United States where 3000 screaming fans mobbed them as they landed in New York. Their appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show introduced them to the rest of America and a string of sold out shows followed. The group then filmed the rock movie “A Hard Day’s Night" followed by their first world tour. By the end of the year there was hardly a single human on earth that had not at least heard of The Beatles. And this classic image documents the band just as it all began.

With credits given to United Artists (which released "A Hard Day's Night") the photo appears to have been taken in the UA television studio. It shows John George and Paul harmonizing as Ringo lays down the beat on his drums. The photo measures 7-1/4” x 8-1/2” and shows some edge wear and chipping with a rough cut edge at the bottom. The reverse shows glue residue as well as handwritten numbers pertaining to production. The photograph has been encapsulated and graded Type I by PSA/DNA.
