The following items in this lot come from the estate collection of Chuck Daly who assisted Philadelphia 76ers head coach Billy Cunningham from 1978-81 before his more prestigious stints as head coach of the Detroit Pistons and the 1992 Olympic Dream Team. Cunningham coached the 1978 1980 and 1981 East All-Star teams and brought along Daly his top assistant each time. These are the actual roster sheets and game notes from each of those All-Star games.
1) 1980 East All-Star team-signed roster sheet and game notes. All 11 players voted to the East All-Star team in 1980 are present on the front cover in 9/10 black marker including: Larry Bird (HOF '79-80 ROY) Julius "Dr. J" Erving (HOF) Elvin Hayes (HOF) Moses Malone (HOF) George "Iceman" Gervin (HOF game MVP) Nate "Tiny" Archibald (HOF) Michael Ray Richardson Bill Cartwright John Drew Eddie Johnson and Dan Roundfield. The front is marked mostly in black pen with the team ("East All-Star") date of the game ("February 3 1980") final score ("144-136 OT") and officiating crew ("J. Gushue - E. Rush - W. Rooney"). The inside contains various notes including the West team roster (starting five plus bench) and several designed plays all hand-drawn in red black or blue pen. The back has more designed plays along with post-game notes for the East team at the bottom. There is a crease down the center of 9.25" by 11.75" manilla folder branded with the Philadelphia 76ers logo on the front.
2) Pair of 1981 NBA All-Star team-signed roster sheets each with the same 21 autographs all in 9/10 black marker. Again both are 9.25" by 11.75" manilla folders branded with the Philadelphia 76ers logo on the front cover. From the East are Larry Bird (HOF) Robert Parish (HOF) Artis Gilmore (HOF) Nate "Tiny" Archibald (HOF game MVP) Reggie Theus Bobby Jones Mike Mitchell Eddie Johnson Marques Johnson and Dan Roundfield. Missing are Michael Ray Richardson and Julius Erving. From the West are Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (HOF) Moses Malone (HOF) George "Iceman" Gervin (HOF) Jamaal Wilkes (HOF) Dennis Johnson (HOF) Adrian Dantley (HOF) Jack Sikma (HOF) Walter Davis Paul Westphal and Otis Birdsong. Only Leonard "Truck" Robinson is missing; Walt Davis has signed twice. The autographs are split up with 12 on the cover and 9 on the back. One of the folders is simply 1981 NBA All-Star team-signed with no other markings or notes. It comes with little creasing. The other (marked "West All-Star" in red on the front) has scoring game notes and stats along with several hand-drawn play designs on the inside plus more East post-game comments on the back - all marked in red pen. The condition is similar to the 1980 roster sheet folder with a large crease down the center.
Includes copy of LOA from Terry Daly Chuck's widow. Also comes with Letter of Provenance from Rich Behar owner of SportsCard Central who acquired many items directly from the Daly estate in 2010.
Full LOA from PSA/DNA for each item.
